The First International Conference on the Advancements of Artificial Intelligence in African Context (ConAAIAC) - 2023 The University of Dodoma (UDOM), and the Nelson Mandela African Institution of Science and Technology (NM-AIST) and IEEE Tanzania Chapter have organized the 1st International Conference on the Advancements of Artificial Intelligence in African Context (AAIAC). This conference is the first in a series that will bring together international researchers, academia and industrial practitioners to discuss and foster developments in the domain with a lens on the African Continent. The conference is prepared under the umbrella of the established gender-inclusive and multidisciplinary Africa’s Anglophone Research lab that fosters research, human capacity development, innovation, and internationalization. In addition, the lab aims at bringing together academia, industries and public institutions in Africa’s Anglophone to develop research-based AI innovations that contribute to evidence-based and gender-sensitive policies. The overall objective of the 1st International Conference on the Advancements of Artificial Intelligence in African Context (AAIAC) with this year’s theme on the role of Artificial Intelligence towards realization of the 4th and 5th Industrial Revolution is to strengthen capacity through a bigger network of researchers, academicians and industrial practitioners working to realize the role of AI on the continent’s industrial revolution which spans from automation, food production, smart and strong economies and enhanced healthcare to mention a few. The conference will also provide a platform that will strengthen the capacity of public universities in Africa to conduct high-quality, multidisciplinary, responsible AI research and teaching by sharing out their innovations, use cases, papers, and patents, to mention a few.
